Choosing a Candle Wax & Why it Matters
To wrap up our series on candle production and care, today we are talking all things candle wax! One of the most important components of a candle is the wax. There are several types of candle wax, each with its own unique properties.
Soy Wax: In our opinion, this is the best wax! All of our candles are made with 100% natural soy wax. Soy wax is a natural wax made from soybeans. It is a renewable resource and is biodegradable, making it an eco-friendly choice for candles. It also burns cleanly and slowly and holds scent well, so o candles made with soy wax can have a strong and long-lasting fragrance.
Paraffin Wax: Paraffin wax is one of the most commonly used waxes in candles. It is made from petroleum, a byproduct of crude oil. Paraffin wax is affordable, easy to use, and has a long shelf life. It is also a versatile wax, however, there are environmental impact concerns about using petroleum-based products, especially in your home.
Beeswax: Beeswax is a natural wax made by honeybees. It has a warm, natural scent and a golden color. Beeswax candles are popular for their natural, non-toxic properties and it is a good choice for those who are sensitive to synthetic fragrances.
Palm Wax: Palm wax is a natural wax made from the oil of palm trees. Like Soy wax, It is a renewable resource and is biodegradable. Palm wax has a unique crystalline structure that gives candles a textured, almost crystalline appearance and provides a bright, vibrant color.
Gel Wax: Gel wax is a clear, translucent wax that has a unique, almost jelly-like consistency. It is made from a combination of mineral oil and polymer resin. Gel wax can be infused with colors and scents, and it is often used in container candles.
Coconut Wax: Coconut wax is a natural wax made from the oil of coconuts. Coconut wax has a creamy texture and a slight coconut scent. Coconut wax candles have a long burn time and a strong scent throw.
