How to Help Your Candle Burn Longer
Finding the perfect candle for your home is a simple joy but it can be frustrating when it burns down quickly. We have pulled together a few tricks to help you enjoy your candles for longer periods of time.
Trim the Wick: Before lighting your candle, make sure to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. A longer wick will create a larger flame, which can cause your candle to burn faster. A shorter wick will create a smaller flame, which will help your candle burn longer. Check out our wick trimmers to add to your collection.
Burn the Candle for Longer Periods: Candles are designed to be burned for longer periods of time. If you only light your candle for a short period of time, it can create a tunnel effect, where the wax around the wick melts, but the outer wax remains solid. This can cause your candle to burn down quickly. Instead, we recommend burning your candle for at least 2-3 hours at a time to allow the wax to melt all the way to the walls of the jar.
Use a Candle Snuffer: Extinguishing a candle with a lid or by blowing it out can create smoke and cause the wick to smolder, which can shorten the lifespan of your candle. Instead, use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. A snuffer will help to prevent the wick from smoldering, which will help your candle to burn longer.
Keep the Wax Pool Clean: As your candle burns, it will create a pool of melted wax around the wick. To help your candle burn longer, make sure to keep this pool clean. Remove any debris or wick trimmings from the wax pool before lighting your candle again. This will help the wax to melt evenly and prevent the wick from becoming clogged with debris.
By following these simple tips, you can help your candles burn longer and enjoy their warm and inviting glow for longer periods of time.
